Trend prediction
When we visited celia in London a couple years ago I noticed their groceries were small 7-11 sized places on every corner. It kind of made sense to me for city living. I wish we had more of that in boston. And I know amazon is working hard on their cashierless Go stores because I see them hiring in Boston. So clearly the next thing will be a revitalization of these Superette type stores—everything tends to come around again.
I was in CVS yesterday and one self-checkout computer said, "touch screen broken, use pen", another "debit card only" and another, "out for maintenance". I was thinking, do real people get to do that? I do believe it will come around because people need those 15 seconds of human interaction. More so now than ever before. Also, per Mike and my doom and gloom prediction, in a few years running a convenience store will seem like a good living, all things considered.
