Once You're a Boater...

Well here we are, pulling out of Constitution Marina on our way to Peddock Island for the day. It's quite a treat for me and Chris to show up for a day on the water without any of the usual worries of will we hit other boats, will our engines work etc, which we never were able to quite shake no matter how often we went out. It was going to be a hot one in Boston, so when the Manns called we came a running.

Mostly we spent the day on the beach swimming and napping which was just what my soul needed. But we also had visits from our boater friends throughout the day as they came by on their dinghys. The dinghy seems like such an after thought to the boating life, but is so critical to boat happiness. And of course the Manns had some troublesome dinghy shenanigans, because that is just the nature of those boats. As Chris and I get a bit jealous of no longer having a boat, it is good to be reminded occasionally that it is not hassle free.

This weekend we all agreed probably best to just go for the day and not stay the night. On Betty, we always needed to make sure we returned before the office closed so that we could have some confidence we'd have a team of 20 or so people to help us dock. On the Roscoe James we returned with the sunset for some amazing Boston views. Kevin brought us in flawlessly--there's nothing like a good docking experience to top off an amazing day.

I used to always look for Bunker Hill monument to show us the way home. Funny now to realize this skyline is actually now our home
