Optical Illusions
In our. younger days, if I wanted Chris's undivided attention on a topic of my choosing, I'd suggest a drink at a bar. He's always been a good listener, but life is busy, and sometimes I needed more focus from him. Sitting at a bar was like a magic trick to get his laser like attention. These days I'm finding a long walk works just as well and let's be honest its probably a bit healthier for us. Today we delivered yogurt to my mother who was delighted (as much as you could ever call her delighted) to see Chris and discuss her new dystopian reading interest of volcano eruptions that will end the world. We then decided to walk the 4 miles home but first we needed to watch a tap dance class in a field (see above), and then stop to have coffee with Max in Harvard Square. Somehow our 4 mile route turned into 7 miles which is what happens when you follow a windy river not a street grid. It was exhausting. The interesting thing though is that our apartment is in a building so tall that it was always right in front of us regardless of which side of the river we were on. Like a beacon telling us we could do it, we could make it. And we did.
Best to be close to a river if those volcanoes erupt!
