Out with the old
Chris looks a little happy in this photo, but trust me he was controlling himself from smiling ear to ear because the dreaded lamp has finally come down. I think I could tell the story of our marriage by talking about all the light fixtures that have come and gone. Nothing will ever top his annoyance at the bronze arc lamp that I loved so much. But as I like to say, you can't take on anything new if you never let go of the old. So even though I had such hopes for this long armed creature, I admit it was a fail on all points regarding light and function. My recent big bulbed string light purchase was also a big fail, but that only means I get to continue the hunt.
It's hard to get it right when you're working with such a small space. I understand this, as we work with small spaces, too (although not as small as yours).
ReplyDeleteIt begins with the high hopes of fixing a problem, and then: The search for the fix, the possible find, the install, and alas...the awful moment when you must admit the fix didn't fix it.
On the other hand, I do like the hunt. I was recently (and shockingly) accused by my daughter of never intending to make a certain purchase I'd been hunting down for a long time just because I'd then have to be finished with the hunt. (She may have a point.)
I agree, its all about the hunt. Always amazes me though how an all encompassing fixation just disappears once I find the find
