Nightly Rituals

When we lived at the marina we knew that the cannon from the Constitution went off every morning at 8 and every evening at sunset. But mostly you would forget about it until it fired and you jumped out of your skin. Now we watch from our apartment the tourist boats gathering at dusk for the cannon shot. Even though I used to be right there, my vantage point meant I had no idea about this nightly spectacle. I always like to comment on how perspective changes your viewpoint. So there you go, your daily bit of observation.
