Team Edith

I know this is not the most flattering picture of my mother, but it was a big deal that we got her to go outside this afternoon so I am going to celebrate the moment in all its rawness. Usually Max, Chris, and I split up our visits so we cover more time, but it was kind of fun to all be there together. We each have our jobs to do. For instance, somehow Chris convinced Edith to take a walk outside. On our way down the hallway, we ran into another resident Ilsa. Then Max decided he was not going to be outdone by Chris, so he did his job and asked Ilsa if she was over 100 years old yet. At first Ilsa looked a little startled. My mother began her hand waving at Max indicating he was embarrassing her. But then Ilsa told us she was 99 and a pretty interesting conversation happened. That is until my mother, doing her job, told us she was impatient to get moving again. You're probably wondering by now what my job is. Well its to keep my mother's freezer stocked with ice cream. And document the moments here.

  1. And Ilsa survived the concentration camps in Germany. Not many of her left. She said she felt the past four years deeply upsetting.
