Kitchen Happiness

This weekend we finally got the electric range out and installed the induction burners and countertop oven. I was trying to work with the measurements we had rather than hire a carpenter, so I picked the smaller versions and expected everything to be an easy swap. "Hahahahah" said the boat gods. "That's not how it works!" We ended up hiring an electrician to remove an oven that was just plugged in, not hard wired. He spent hours maneuvering the oven out of the too tight space. He then put our "barely used, great condition" oven up on the marina facebook where there was a feeding frenzy for parts. Did we make a mistake getting rid of this we wondered? The microwave removal gave us similar challenges.

But finally the new appliances were installed and plugged in. And I made dinner. Cue the glorious orchestral music here. I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am with the new set up. I can use 2 burners and an oven at the same time. A skillet can lie flat on the burner and heat the entire surface. It is a damn miracle! Honestly the fact that I was able to make anything with the old stove was a miracle, but I like this new miracle of functionality so much more.
