Parsnips

Sunday was a gorgeous bright day at the marina and everyone was busy busy busy. Chris and I were too. I spent the day doing a lot of figuring out what to cook with what I had in the fridge without going to the store.  My eternal goal is always to throw out less food. I had an abundance of parsnips so I ended up making a harissa/honey farro salad with parsnips and a ginger parsnip cake. Who knew you could make parsnip cake just like carrot cake? It turned out pretty good in case you're wondering. But at one point during the afternoon I noticed that our sailboat neighbors on both sides were spending their day shining chrome and refinishing their teak. I have a feeling that's what we should have been up to as well.
