The Next Hurdle
Last weekend Chris and I took a navigation class. Mostly people use gps on boats similar to how we do in cars, but you never know if you're going to lose connection. And let's face it, there aren't too many gas stations to pull over to in the open water. I was not looking forward to a long day in hotel basement classroom, but in the end it was kind of fun. One thing we learned is that every boat has its own unique compass reading—or deviation. Chris wondered in class whether we should contact the former boat owner to see if he knew it. But while cleaning the boat on the following day, I found our deviation chart actually glued to the...dashboard (ok I know there is another name for that, but let's not get all worked up over using the right "boat" names). Anyway, all this leads me to our next very BIG thing which is actually taking the boat out on the water. This Friday we have a captain coming to the boat to give us our first lesson. Neither Chris nor I believe it is actually possible to learn this impossible feat, but everyone at the marina assures us we can. What do you think?
You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI have full faith and confidence in you two.
