Solar
What you're looking at is the view from the salon, up the stairs and out to the aft deck (we think of it as our patio). We don't usually keep the door open, but today I'm running a small fan up there blowing down the stairs.
This morning on the dock, the temperature is 46*. Inside the boat its about 58*. But out on the aft deck under the wrap the temperature is 70*.
Its an almost free solar heat furnace!
I wonder if anyone runs water/anti-freeze liquid from the deck to the downstairs for heat exchange. In other words, you heat up the water above and pump/circulate it below deck where it heats up below-deck then goes back cold to the top. You probably already have a similar heat exchange for the water outside the boat. A simple idea you can do is put gallon water bottles up there, then just bring them downstairs for the night, and back up in the day. A little anti-freeze will prevent them from freezing in winter.
ReplyDeleteAnd good exercise too :) (to impress Michael)!
