Back to Work and the Gig Economy
The guy in the neon green shirt gives me the friendliest hello every morning. It always makes my day and proves to me that community and connections can be found anywhere. It was interesting to see in Maine how people handle money and business between each other and where technology has penetrated and where it has not. We have put our little cottage up on airbnb and it is already doing some brisk business. I was telling Chris, Max, and Kiev at dinner after our trip home that I wondered if airbnb was so successful because every new rental or review notification feels like a dopamine hit. And it got me to thinking of what else we could do to feed my addiction. I was thinking we could rent out a bunk in the forward cabin of our boat for $50/night which led to Kiev filling us in on airbnb "experiences." We'd offer dinner and conversation on the boat to any liveaboard wannabes. We also tried to figure out how many Uber drives Chris would have to do to pay for our new car. And so on. If you have any good ideas, put them in the comments!
