Omurice

I was hopeful last weekend that Chris and I would figure out the right replacement to the awful electric range and I'd be on my way to cooking nirvana by now. But every idea we explored got stuck pretty quickly once I pulled out the measuring tape or read the manufacturer's recommendations. So for now I continue to muddle along with what we have which surprisingly enough is...manageable. Truth be told, I do enjoy working around limitations. A few self imposed guidelines have helped. Do not buy too much, use what you have, and take time on Sunday to do prepare for the week. Interestingly I tried to live by these same rules in Brookline, but I could never pull it off. I'm particularly proud of last night's dinner of omurice (japanese fried rice omelette) and pickled watermelon radishes. yum!

  1. That omurice was just about the most insanely tasty thing I've ever had. It's the Bill Belichick of omelletes. And its totally not just for breakfast anymore. There was this astonishing combination of flavors in the two sauces, and that's not even getting to the multi-leveled rice or the succulent vegetables or the tangy radishes. WOW!
